You know what really interests me?The burmuda triangle. Once I was watching the discovery channel and I was watching something something on some guys being fascinated with the burmuda triangle, and they wondered what it was about that area that created all of those stories about people and things getting lost around that area and never being recovered, no evidence of anything being recovered, no bodies or ships or planes. So these guys went out to the area and began investigating in their boats. They took all kinds of equipment with them. When they began nearing the boundaries of the burmuda triangle they began experiencing problems with their compasses and other instruments. Things weren’t marking or measuring as they should.well this morning i was checking out the discovery channel website and I read something about a phalanx being found on some island. Scientists first thought it was the bone of a turtle, but they are also thinking it might be the finger bone of Amelia Earheart. there is some island where they have found evidence of castaways, and so they are thinking that Amelia and her partner may have been able to land their aircraft after running out of fuel and landed on this island where they tried to survive and unfortunately died as castaways. On that island are remains of small campfires and fish bones. Also there were clams that were found to be opened as if they were opened the way an oyster is opened to be eaten. The shells, scientists believed were also layed out in way that appeared to be able to collect water when it rained.

You know, people keep saying how advanced our technology is now these days, and I agree. However, it makes me wonder where we’ll really be in the years to come. We never expected to have laptops and cell phone we could watch tv from 20years ago. I think to myself that now we are really advanced and how much further could this [technology] go? I mean will we really be driving electric cars? Call me old, but I have seen so much that I ask myself what else could we really do. How much more is there to be done, aside from finding cures for cancer and all. I mean like electronically-wise. This may sound like an ignorant question, but it came to me so I felt like I could blog about it. What will we be up to in 10 years from now if every year or every six months laptops and cell phones become outdated. Are we moving to fast or not fast enough. And are we putting all of this knowledge to good use? Really, are we?
I have read not too much but something about planting more reflective crops to help cool the Earth. Andyou know what, that reminds me that I haven’t heard much abou global warming in like the last year. I mean in class, yeah, once in a while a professor will mention it and the class knows about it. But ever since that Bob Dole guy made that movie, which was a while back, like a few years ago (which the Simpson’s Movie) made fun of, it hasn’t had much hype. Now is this good or bad? People not making a big deal about global warming, does this mean it is not as much of a threat, or does this only mean that people got over the scare and have moved on as if the crisis were a fad and not reality. This stinks? There is no way global warming could have slowed down. I think global warming is still a major threat, but people have gotten over the scare. We need to do something about this. This is ridiculous. It really is gonna be too late by the time people really take this issue seriously.
Wow. I just heard from a friend about scientists using fruit flies and mice for testing to find out about a human pain gene. I looked it up and read an article at discoverychannel.com. The article read something about pain being hereditary. I had never heard that before. Well it says that there is little known about the human pain gene. The tests on mice was done to see how the pain gene control different levels of pain. And this all started when scientists began searching for pain genes in fruit flies. I think there are more than one pain gene, and scientists are yet to find that out. The article also mentioned that these studies will help scientists come up with new pain medicines. WOW. What the world is coming to. I always hear people say how advanced we are and how much we continue to advance, but this is really out there! How can you study a gene and pain. Pain is like not even really tangible. That is just crazy.
Ever wonder about aliens? Where did that word derive from? I understand E.T (extraterrestrial) and UFO (unidentified flying object), but where did the term alien come from? I just posted on Saturday about black holes. It is insane what is out there, beyond us. Earth itself is an amazing planet, and everything that occurs on this planet. What is even more amazing is what else goes on elsewhere, what little or some we do know. All of those sitings and unexplainable things that occur in New Mexico and Arizona and other places too are not really covered up all that well. The government has so many secrets that we don’t know what to and what not to believe. So many mysteries. Who invented the idea of aliens;what they look like, where they come from, what they commute in, how advanced they are? Could someone really have made all these things up and these ideas of a lie exist for so long? The chupacabra myth didn’t even last that long!Someone or people must have had experiences to really keep this going.
I think it is crazy that black holes really exist. I don’t know much about them, but I know more or less that they FREAKIN SCARE ME! They have this massive force of gravity and suck everything in its path. Man strange things on this planet and around it. I also saw this link that there may be a black hole in the milky way. Isn’t that our galaxy? I wonder how they actually exist, like how they travel and actually suck everthing in its path and just eat it. What is on the other side? Would it be another dimension? It is obvious we wouldn’t survive one, I mean we can’t even survive in space without all of that equipment. Sheesh, we can barely survive on this planet, killing eachother and our planet and whatnot.Bologna!
Did dinosaurs pray? How ironic, according to the discovery channel website, a dinosaur fossil was found in a Church in Vigevano, which is 20 miles from Milan. As far as my understanding the fossil was found in a piece of furniture that was made of marble. Wow. I saw a photo of the skull and it appears to be like al slice of it. What is it called, they called it a horizontal section of the skull, and the fossil is said to have cranium, the nasal lobes and numerous teeth. That is crazy. I can’t imagine how long it has been there and what it went through before it got there next to the altar. I just think it is ironic how dinosaurs don’t seem to fit into religion, and yet there was a dinosaur fossil sitting in a Church for who knows how long. Looking at the photo, it is surprising how it didn’t get spotted sooner, but then I think to myself, looking at the picture, it is hard to distinguish the image. Then again, that explains why a paleontologist discovered what was hidden in the rock. The rock is said to be Broccatello and dates back to the lower Jurassic, which is around 190 million years old.
Okay, I just read a little lastest news tip from the discovery channel website that TWO new species of mosquitoes is evolving. How scary is that? I’m sure it is pretty normal, but the fact that I actually know it is happening is weird to me. Frankly, mosquitoes scare me. I know you can just squash them like a bug because they are bugs, or insect, or whatever. But they are scary creatures. The fact that they can be flying around you and you not see them, especially in the dark, is scary. They can bite at any time then fly away, come back and do it again. Mosquitoes, or so I’ve heard carry many diseases. Is one bite all it takes? The discovery channel website stated that the fact that these two different strains of mosquitoes is developing is dangerous because malaria already takes millions of lives every year. If these two new species have a higher tolerance for control methods. YIKES! I am still trying to get over the Bird and Swine flu scare. It can always come back and more tolerant to our meds.
Cancer is a really scary thing. I learned in my Bio 2 class that cancer is cells dividing rapidly out of control. In our bodies our cells are always dividing. That is how we keep on living. Our bodies are always nurturing itself, well with the help of food and drink of course. But our body cells carry out so many functions that keep us going. These cells wear out and die and then our body makes new ones. So cells dividing are also part of us growing. Our cells divide in order for all types of processes to take place. Anyway, I’m not sure how cancer begins, but I think it is when you have to little of one type of cells and too many of another type. I think it is when you have too many white t cells or something. I don’t know. I’m not too sure about going into this much depth and detail because I don’t want to misinform anyone. Anyway, I know cancer is serious and there is no cure for it…yet. I also learned that everyone has possible cancer in their bodies; it is just kind of dormant. For instance, anyone can get lung cancer, anyone. But those who smoke are disturbing the healthy function of the lungs by feeding it drugs (nicotine, tar, ((cigarettes)). So, more likely the person who plays with fire will get burned, unless there is like a freak accident. There are also cases where someone who smokes for 10 years will not get lung cancer and someone who smoked for 5 will, but that just depends on the body. Some bodies are more susceptible to becoming ill that others. But how will we know, we don’t unless relatives have gotten lung cancer. If your relatives have had lung cancer, because you are related and share commonalities in your DNA, does it mean you also have a higher risk of getting lung cancer? HMM.
I love this time of year. I wait all year long for this time of the year. October is my favorite month because that is when you can really feel that fall has arrived. I also appreciate that this month is breast cancer awareness month, where many people wear the pink ribbon. My husband is a really Dallas Cowboys fan and watches every game, even the games of other football teams so he knows how our team and others are doing. It is nice to see that the NFL players all wear pink in many forms; pink shoes, pink gloves, some of the caps they wear have a little bit of pink on them. I think even their towels they use on the field are pink. My husband says that after wearing these things during the game, they sell or auction them off for money, and that money goes to the breast cancer awareness foundation. It is good to see that our country can come together sometimes. Especially when it really matters. I think also because cancer is more of a serious thing now. Well it has always been serious, but I think it is that there is more of it now. I wonder if we will ever find a cure for cancer. We are doing so well with everything else with the way we live and how we have advanced in our technology. Except for global warming and conservation. That we just threw out the window.
